Sunny Corners

Hello and happy February! I love this short month. It's almost like an afterthought with a cute little holiday stuck in the middle.

Today was an unusually warm and sunny day, and as the girls played downstairs and outside with Patrick I puttered around the upstairs tidying up. As much as I sometimes wish for a one-level home, I do love having our bedrooms all tucked away upstairs. I so enjoy spending time up there alone on a weekend morning putting things back in their place, arranging little surprises for the girls, getting our bedroom back to a more peaceful state after the week.

Today the sunlight made everything seem fresh and the colors pop. I had the windows open and realized how much pleasure I take in all the corners of these rooms, the little vignettes--some studied and others accidental--and snippets I spy through doors.

CC's crib with Bear and Dolly and a pillow given to her by my sister.

CC's room: prints by Camilla Engman, Valentina from Little Red Caboose, the treasure basket.

On Sabrina's toy shelf: Roza (again, from Little Red Caboose), Matryoshkas from Poland, a nesting doll painted by Sabrina, a night light and piggy bank from IKEA, coloring pencils from Spain in a bucket from Target. This vignette is a very much like our home--a little bit handmade, a little bit modern, a little bit from afar, a little bit of art.

Her own painting and four paper lanterns hang over Sabrina's bed.

Our bedroom right after tidying it up. It is rarely this serene and almost never devoid of toys and children's books.

On the landing: a snowflake garland and Sabrina's boots.
