The Big Orange Splot
Are there books you loved as a child that you can't find now because you can't remember the title? I recently wrote about this very thing on BabyCenter.com and someone was able to help me out! Yes, I have a "missing title book" in mind! I remember reading a book about a yellow dot and a blue dot who were lonely....their colors mixed and made green....my memories of this are sketchy, but the premise is about being lonely/finding a friend/color mixing all in one! I wish I could find this one!
What a fun looking book..I'll have see if I can find it during my next book trip. Sadly enough, I don't remember too many books when I was little. That's great you were able to find one of your favorites!
Well, this is exciting... I'm actually able to help you, Megret! The book is "Little Blue and Little Yellow" by Leo Lionni. I on;y discovered this one last year with my daughter, but it's a favorite now! Happy re-discovery!
I love "The Big Orange Splot!" Back in my teaching days, my second graders used to make their own "dream houses" after reading that book. Sounds like a good summer project for my girls! Thanks for the reminder of a great book.
My sister and I remember a book being read to us at story time at the library - it was kind of fascinatingly creepy. It was about a wombat or something, and a possum or a sloth, and they make a decoy sloth or possum out of banana peels and something else... I probably can't describe it clearly enough for someone to ID it for me, but it would solve a huge mystery that my sister and I still talk about 20+ years later.

I grew up reading this book, and stealthily stole it from my mother, and I now read it to my kids... this book made imagine crazy scenes and ways to change my house... My house is me.. and I am it... it looks like all my dreams...

I'm looking for a title of a book that I loved as a child, and I still think of it often. I can still see the pictures in my mind. It's a book about a young girl that is invitied to a doll/tea party all the girls are suppose to bring their dolls with them and they are all very different. Dolls that have beautiful dresses and hair, and this young girl's doll is old and battered, but very loved! I hope someone can help me find the title and let me know if it is still in print. Thank you!
